CANARY ISLANDS
LOCATION
  • The Canary Islands are located in the Atlantic Ocean, Nort-West of Africa and South-West of Europe.
  • We are directly in front of the coast of Morocco
GRAN CANARIA
There are different climatical areas and different landscapes:

Goats.







The Goats were already in Canary Islands when Spanish people conquered them.

Goats are the most important livestock
in the Canary Islands 



Camels (dromedary)


The first Camels were brought to the Canary Islands from Africa in about 1405.   They were essential in the european colonization. The canary camel is the only breed of camel that lives in Europe.  Nowadays, they are used as a mean of transport on trips for tourists. 

              BOTTLED-NOSE  DOLPHIN 
  • The Canary Islands are known as home of dolphins.
 

  • There are a large number of this animals in Canary Islands.
  • They are very friendly with human beings.
  
  •  They are very intelligent so they can help very much human beings.

                                        







                                                        GIANT LIZARD
  • The Giant Lizard is a protected species since 1975.
 
  •  It reaches 75cm in length.
 
  • It has got a long thin tail.
  •  It eats insects and plants.
 
    • The breeding season is in May, after 1 month  the female lays 12 eggs in a nest of wich the young  comes after 8 weeks.
    • The giant lizard lives on the earth from the Jurasic times.

                                                   THE MAJORERA GOAT
    •  The majorera goat is a particulary strong breed exported to África and America.



    •   It's milk is essential for the human being diet.


    • The majorero cheese is one of the moust famous in Spain.



    • In the 13ª and 14ª centwies goats were already present in the Islands.




    • Nowadays,goats are the most important livestock resource in the Islands

                                              THE CAMEL
    • Its anatomy shows all kind of adaption for sandy and hot dessert.



    • The camel is about  2,15m high.




    • The camel can weigh about 700kg.


    • They can drink about 100l of water in 10 minutes.


    • This water is keept in a big hump.


                                                   THE CANARY BIRD.
    • The canary bird is wild or domestic.


    • They usually are yellow.


    • The canary bird comes from Canary Islands.


    • It can eats: Vegetables are carrots,fruits and the apple or seeds.And they heed cold water everyday.
     

                 
                                                      BARDINO
    • Majorero dog or Bardino is a Spanish breed originally from Fuerteventura.


    • Some are: dark brown,dark green,dark or light grey and even yellow.


    • It's a noble,strong and brave dog if you educated it properly.





    • It can be from 55 to 64 cm high.


                                                         THE YELLOW-LEGGED GULL
    • In the Canary Islands there are several dozens of thems.



    • It lives in all the islands except in La Gomera  




    • It can be observe in the autumn and winter  dates.


    • It eats: fish,carrion,insects,eggs,earth-warms and wastes.
